The Edward E. Ford Foundation Matching Grant

Adding a new residential dormitory requires us to re-site our current baseball field. Solebury School requires our students to participate in afterschool sports and activities and our baseball program is one of our most popular spring sports. We anticipate locating the new field closer to the Athletic Center and creating a high school regulation field with boundary fencing, bleachers for spectators, covered dugouts, a scoreboard, and more. This field will mark the beginning of our campus’s evolution to creating a more robust athletics complex on the east side of campus, using the current Athletic Center (completed in 2007) as an anchoring point for many of our athletic endeavors.

On June 8, 2022, the Advisory Committee of the Edward E. Ford Foundation approved a matching grant to Solebury School in support of this new field. If we can raise $200,000 for the relocation of the baseball field as part of Shaping Solebury, the Foundation will match those generous gifts with another $100,000.

The Abbe 2 Challenge

The Abbe family’s philanthropy has had a profound and enduring impact on our school. Long-time Solebury School supporters Jay ’59 and Kären Abbe have once again challenged our community to invest in the school that we love. When campaign commitments reach $7.5 million, the Abbe’s will contribute an additional $1 million to the campaign, making the Shaping Solebury campaign the largest in the school’s history.
