Responsible Systems

To support the addition of a new residential building and the potential future growth included in Solebury’s master plan, improvements to the campus infrastructure are required.  The most immediate need is to replace and expand our aging wastewater treatment plant. A rigorous design and engineering process led to the choice of a containerized microfiltration membrane bioreactor (MBR) for sewage treatment with drip irrigation in a widely dispersed area. This technology produces the cleanest effluent possible and returns treated wastewater, now potable, back into the environment in the cleanest possible way. This is particularly important both because of our proximity to Primrose Creek (and the associated watershed area) and to support the school’s environmental sustainability focus. With this system, the Solebury campus will also be a living laboratory for our students’ sustainability learning opportunities.
